Images of Vietnam revisited

Only months after being drafted into the Vietnam War as a rifleman in 1967, photography enthusiast Charlie Haughey was given the task by his commanding officer of photographing his unit for Army and US publications. The directive was clear, ‘You are not a combat photographer. This is a morale operation. If I see pictures of my guys in papers, doing their jobs with honor, then you can do what you like in Vietnam.’

Dodge & Burn ship 3 new camera t-shirts

Dodge & Burn ship 3 new camera t-shirts

US apparel company, Dodge & Burn today started shipping 3 news designs in their range of classic film camera t-shirts.

1959 (Canonflex), The MAPC (Modified Aerial Press Camera) and The Professional (Nikon SP) t-shirts take their range up to 12.

1959 - Introduced in March 1959 and discontinued five months later, the Canonflex was Canon’s first 35mm SLR.  What it lacked in shelf life, it made up for in bravado.  This large, meticulously made beast sported a bottom-mounted film advance trigger, possibly the largest shutter speed dial on any camera and an external selenium exposure meter that literally scares off evil-doers.

The MAPC - The MAPC represents the marriage of two American legends – the Speed Graphic press camera and Kodak’s military reconnaissance Aero-Ektar lens. The Speed Graphic was widely used in the ‘30’s and ‘40’s by press photographers, most famously by Weegee who photographed New York City crime scenes.  At the same time, Kodak’s Aero-Ektar was flying over the battlefields of Europe and Asia photographing strategic targets.

The Professional - The Professional is D&B’s homage to Nikon’s first professional camera and one of history’s most legendary rangefinders.  Introduced in 1957, the SP was widely used by press photographers and remains one of the most highly sought after cameras in the 21st century. This premium tri-blend shirt is a bit more form-fitting than the other shirts, so S&B recommend going up one size.

The t-shirts cost $29 each and worldwide shipping is available.

For more info on the t-shirts or to place an order, head over to: http://www.dodgeandburn.com/

Please ignore the mess

Sorry about the mess; basically, I trashed the previous blog as I wasn’t happy with the template – it was rather limited in its capacity to display stuff properly. So, I went back to the proverbial drawing board and found something more suited to my blogging needs.

Now, all I have to do is go and backfill the content with images – it’ll happen.

So, if you find missing images, that’ll be why – sorry.

A slight change to the site

A slight change to the site

It’s been absolutely ages since I’ve blogged anything; life has kind of taken over things. I will attempt to write more this year.

Anyhoo; please mind the mess, I’m trying out a new template as I got quite bored of the last one and I felt it really didn’t show off my photography.

More updates soon (I promise)
